Producer's Partners in theBusiness of Film & Television
PRODUCERS often juggle all the BUSINESS AFFAIRS elements on top of the creative. And do it all by themselves.
Hiring another producer at the same level for an entire project isn’t in your budget. Nor is bringing in a junior person to train.
We Can Help.
On an as-needed basis. We don’t have to be there for the entire length of your project.
We handle certain business affairs tasks at certain times without breaking your bank. You determine what that is, what it looks like, and when it happens.
So, you can focus on what no one else but you can do.
Beginning
We are there at the beginning: from building Budgets, crafting Financing Plans, and completing Funding Applications.
Middle
We are there in the middle: helping to close Financing Agreements, negotiating Interim Financing with the bank, creating a Production Start Kit with contracts and cost report templates, and providing Production Accounting to track costs throughout.
End
And we are there at the end: closing the books for the Auditor’s Report, and completing the Final Reporting for funders.
We can come on for the whole production life-cycle, or just certain stages, for certain tasks; you decide!

About us.
Located in Toronto, Ontario, Nickel EP helps producers find solutions to their logistical and financial challenges so they can realize the projects they envision on time and on budget. It is a bespoke consultancy business consisting of a team of Producers, Line Producers and Production Accountants, supporting film and television producers at all levels of industry experience.
Nickel Entertainment Partners (Nickel EP) was founded by business affairs consultant and media industry veteran Nicole McKechnie after she saw too many creative producers struggle to stay afloat because the money side was too much to juggle with the creative. They’d make less money on their small project, give away their personal profit, or in some cases, their personal income.
Nicole is an Indo-Caribbean/French media professional who began her career in creative over 25 years ago as a producer and director in kids’ television. She has worked with national and international legacy broadcasters including YTV, Smithsonian Network, Discovery, Discovery Kids, HGTV, CBC, TVO, ZDF/ARTE, and Cartoon Network US, plus multiple digital platforms. For the last decade, she has worked in documentary and scripted programming, honing her expertise in funding applications, reporting requirements, and inter-provincial/international treaty co-productions across Canada and Europe. Being of BIPOC descent, her mission is helping emerging producers understand and navigate the complexities of the various BIPOC funds.
